It’s about compassion, affection and touch.
We humans need touch and affection. It’s no longer a question. Nurturing, welcome consensual touch is good for you. Good for your body, heart and spirit. Good for your blood pressure, your nervous system, your emotional health, your ability to connect with and trust people, your ability to respect and care for yourself, your creativity, sense of safety and comfort and belonging. Infants who are deprived of touch fail to thrive; we never outgrow the need.
We humans need touch that is not about sex.
Wait - IS THERE such a thing?
Of course there is :)
WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN...
We open with a Welcome Circle - about 30 minutes of introductions, rules and a few games to help everyone get comfortable. We teach communication and boundary skills in ways that are lighthearted and fun.
Then we open up for ‘free-style’ cuddling. You have plenty of time to relax, chat, share a back rub or other welcome touch, cuddle or just hang out.
You can come to a Cuddle Session to meet new people, to enjoy amazing conversations, to cuddle, to be cuddled, to have fun, to practice asking for what you want, to practice saying “no” to what you don’t want — all in a setting structured to be a safe place for exploration and enjoyment.
ARRIVE ON TIME: Once we begin the Welcome Circle and orientation, sorry, we can let no one enter late. This creates comfort and safety by knowing that everyone is on the same page about rules and expectations.
WHAT TO WEAR: Comfortable clothes – nothing too risqué. Think more comfy than sexy. (More drawstrings, less lace! )
WHAT TO BRING: Sorry, no liquor folks. Juice or sparkling cider is always welcome. A pillow or stuffed animal if you like. Otherwise, just bring your smiling self :)
STICK TO THE RULES...
Clothes stay on the whole time.
You don’t have to cuddle anyone at a Cuddle Session, ever.
You must ask permission and receive a verbal YES before you touch anyone. (Be as specific in your request as you can.)
If you’re a yes, say YES. If you’re a no, say NO.
If you’re a maybe, say NO.
You are encouraged to change your mind.
Respect your relationship agreements and communicate with your partner.
Get your Cuddle Session Facilitator or the Cuddle Assistant if you have a question or concern or need assistance with anything during the Cuddle Session.
Tears and laughter are both welcome.
Respect people’s privacy when sharing about Cuddle Spaces.
Keep the Cuddle space tidy.
